Where Should We Open a New Office?

Commercial Awareness Made Easy

Hey,

Last week we looked at psychometric tests.

This week we are looking at commercial awareness.

I remember that when I first heard about this, I thought recruiters were asking for too much.

Why on Earth do I need to know the divorce rate if I want to be a commercial lawyer? (spoiler, you don’t)

However, this prevented me from understanding that every aspect is a small cog in a bigger mechanism.

Everything is a result of something and affects something.

  • High inflation → higher interest rates.

  • High interest rates → less spending.

  • Less spending → less economic activity

  • Less economic activity → less tax revenue

  • Less tax revenue → government budget cuts

  • Budget cuts → reduced public services

  • Reduced public services → lower quality of life

  • Lower quality of life → divorces

  • Divorces → Happy divorce lawyers😅

Quite a stretch, but I wanted to prove a point.

Understanding these connections makes everything simpler.

If you feel like you’re not really there, here’s what worked for me.
